Tarot Cards Deck Review – Wickwillow Tarot Deck
The Wickwillow Tarot Deck is by Hal Weeks. Mr. Weeks did the research and the design himself, between 2011 and 2013. “It is stunning, enchanting, and powerful. Hal is a sophisticated and thoughtful wizard, and a tarot master who wants to share with us what is inside of him”.
It is but a humble beginning. Eventually, Hal hopes to reformat his deck into a jumbo size deck. However, for now, it is in a pocket-size format; they are card-playing size. The cards measure 3 ½ by 2 ½. It is your choice of colors: Gold, Red, Green, Rust, Blue, or Purple! You can also order a matching tin box to store your deck in. As you can see, mine is green.
The Wickwillow Tarot Deck is a 78 cards deck. For those Readers who do not like names and numbers on the cards, Hal has left out on purpose the names and numbers. As it stands, and until further notice, there is no accompanying guidebook that comes with the deck. This said, do expect one shortly. In the meantime, a one-page introduction pamphlet comes with the deck. There is a quick-start guide on the Wickwillow website. Moreover, Hal recently put up further description and explanations of his cards on his Website.
“Any reader can use this deck, for use with any client, and any reader. It is “theme neutral”…, universal. It is not slanted to one culture or subculture as many decks are. You do not have to be Pagan or Wiccan to appreciate it. You don’t have to learn mythology or Alchemy or Cabalah, You don’t have to practice Ceremonial Magick”, Hall Weeks. In addition, you do not have to be a Marseille master.
In so far as the artistry is concerned, it is “somewhere between stained glass and mosaic, with many “cartoonish” elements and some whimsy thrown in”. Because it is unique, the colors do blare out at you.
Do take some time getting used to that, if the visual and color aspects of the cards interrupt your intuitive sense. It is well worth getting used to that, because you will have a wonderful intuitive reading experience with them… It is an ‘iconic’ deck like in the Marseille.
I Love! Love! Love this deck. I have begun reading with these cards. It is simply amazing what I get out of these readings! I highly recommend to you the Wickwillow Tarot Deck, it is a splash of wonderful readings.
